Altona Resources Plc, an Australia-based energy company, has signed a MoU with CNOOC (Beijing) Energy Investment Co. Ltd, a subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), on the development of a coal gasification and power combined project in Australia. This is the first time that CNOOC will develop an inshore energy project on the overseas market. According to the MoU, CNOOC Energy will participate in the investment and establishment and will provide technologies to Australia’s 10 million barrel coal gasification and 560 MW power combined project. Altona Resources owns the prospecting rights of three blocks in South Australia that hold a total of 7.5 billion tons in coal deposits.
