May 20,2008  From:news/chinaview
KATHMANDU, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) Bamdev Gautam said the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) has not become sensitive to run the government though his party has the assumption that the CPN-M should lead the to-be-formed government, reported national news agency (RSS) Monday. Speaking at a talk program organized in capital Kathmandu on Monday by the Professional Alliance for Peace and Democracy (PAPAD)on the new constitution in favour of the working class, he added that now the importance lies not in which party gained how many votes in the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections but in the establishment of a republic by putting monarchy to an end and ensuring the implementation of the 12-point understanding reached among seven political parties. The next political change would end feudalism along with monarchy and it would bring about benefits to the farmers and the working class, which have been subject to exploitation, Gautam added. Central Member of the People's Front (Rastriya Janamorcha) Hukum Bahadur Singh accused the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-M of engrossing on taking the leadership of the government ignoring the important issue of making the constitution and voiced his concern on rising foreign interventions. Chairman of the Federation of Nepal Trade Union Mukunda Neupane said that the workers class should get united to fight to get its own rights, as the government always tends to put this class under control. Co-president of the Nepal Trade Union Congress Khila Nath Dahal said that the political parties should ensure the implementation of the provisions they put forth in their election manifesto in favour of the working class and identify the working class. Presenting a concept paper on the issue, General Secretary of the Federation Prem Kumar Basnet stressed that the trade union rights should be guaranteed as the fundamental right in the to-be-framed constitution.
